AVELEY snatched Ryman Premier defeat from the jaws of victory in a seven-goal thriller with Kingstonian.

Rod Stringer's men were 3-1 up and cruising when the visitors were given a lifeline from the penalty spot.

And a deflected injury-time effort from Dean Lodge left the home side empty-handed and wondering where it had all gone wrong.

Millers had an early scare as keeper Ollie Morris-Sanders fumbled a harmless looking attempt and let the ball squirm from his grasp again as he attempted to smother it.

The first chance of note did not come until the 23rd minute, when Matt Johnson's cross picked out leading scorer Martin Tuohy, whose sidefooted effort flew over the crossbar.

Johnson set up Ryan Edgar four minutes later, but his shot was tipped wide by Rob Tolfrey before Millers took the lead on the half hour as Ryan Doyle's cross was flicked on by Edgar for Steve Butterworth to score for the third match running from close range.

Morris-Sanders was called into action two minutes before the break to save a Christian Jolly effort, but was picking the ball out of his net in first-half stoppage time as Maurice Harkin's shot came back off the far post and Carl Wilson-Denis poked home a Kingstonian equaliser.

The home side made a bright start to the second half, with Nicky Symons shooting just wide in the 50th minute.

And they regained the lead moments later when Butterworth played a high ball over the Ks defence for Sherwin Stanley to lob the onrushing Tolfrey for his 15th goal of the season.

Six minutes later and it was 3-1 as Butterworth's cross picked out Symons and he headed the ball on for Edgar to nod home his 11th of the campaign.

Jolly fired just over soon after, but Aveley appeared firmly in control, until Doyle inexplicably handled in his own box 16 minutes from time and Bobby Traynor converted, unconvincingly, from the spot.

Traynor then headed in at the far post from a Lodge corner to bring Ks back on terms with nine minutes remaining.

And, after Edgar had a last-minute shot saved by Tolfrey, Ks snatched their winner in the second minute of injury time when Jolly's goalbound shot took a deflection off Lodge to deceive Morris-Sanders.

Aveley's home game against Hastings was postponed on Tuesday and they will host the Sussex club next Thursday, after tomorrow's visit to Horsham and the visit of Waltham Abbey on Monday.

Aveley: Morris-Sanders, Doyle, Holloway, Symons, Alaile, Bailey-Dennis, Edgar, Johnson, Stanley, Tuohy (Gabriel 82), Butterworth.
