London Senior Cup: Met Police 2 Woodford Town

Woodford Town produced a spirited display at Met Police in the London Senior Cup on Tuesday, but still exited the competition after a 2-0 loss.

Dee Safer’s men made the trip to Imber Court looking to produce an upset against a team who impressively qualified for the first round of the FA Cup at the weekend.

It wasn’t to be for Woods though, as a goal in each half sent the Southern League Premier Division South side through to the next round.

Town goalkeeper Alex Reed caught the eye again with yet another penalty save, but the night ended badly for the away side as Jack Grosvenor saw red for a bad tackle.

Woods have lost their last two games now after going down 2-1 at home to Saffron Walden Town on Saturday.

Safer saw his young team produce a good performance, with Connor Leon finding the net from 25-yards, but Bloods claimed the points.

Next up for the Woods in the Essex Senior League is a Friday night fixture at rivals Barkingside before they host Hoddesdon Town in the Errington Challenge Cup on Tuesday (October 30).
