Kevin Nugent assumes the caretaker role for Leyton Orient once again as they prepare to face an in-form Rochdale side at Brisbane Road tomorrow.
It will be the third time the 45-year-old has taken the job on a caretaker basis, having previously done so following the sackings of Martin Ling and Geraint Williams.
He has since been linked in following former boss Russell Slade to Cardiff, where he spent five years as a player.
But he prepares the O’s for tomorrow’s match against the Dale, and the Brisbane Road side have yet to win at home and go into the game with a few injury concerns. Scott Cuthbert limped off after just 12 minutes of Tuesday night’s 1-0 Capital One Cup defeat to Sheffield United, while fellow defender Shane Lowry missed out completely through injury.
Gary Sawyer has made a successful return to training following a tendonitis injury, and could be included in the matchday squad.
Gary Woods will remain in goal for the O’s with Adam Legzdins still out with a finger injury, while Kevin Lisbie remains the only long-term absentee with a shoulder injury.
Rochdale have enjoyed a good September so far, winning four of the five matches to date, and have kept clean sheets in the victories over Crewe Alexandra (3-0), Crawley Town (4-0), Walsall (4-0) and Coventry (1-0).
Their only defeat has come against Sheffield United where they lost out to a Jamal Campbell-Ryce strike six minutes from time.
Keith Hill’s side will be without Joe Rafferty after he picked up his fifth booking of the season in the win over Coventry, but could include former O’s skipper Steven Dawson,.
The midfielder left Brisbane Road for Barnsley in 2012, and it will be his first return to E10 since that move.
He played 86 games for the Tykes before making the switch to Spotland in the summer on a free transfer.
