National League: Boreham Wood 1 Leyton Orient 0

Leyton Orient suffered only their second defeat of the National League season after Boreham Wood earned a 1-0 win over the O’s in front of the BT Sport cameras this afternoon in Hertfordshire.

Justin Edinburgh would have been frustrated with the way his team started the game and they were never able to recover against Luke Garrard’s Wood.

The hosts went ahead after just four minutes when ex-Dagenham & Redbridge full-back Femi Ilesanmi fired into the roof of the net.

It was the start of a frustrating half for the O’s, but it nearly ended positively when Josh Coulson tried an acrobatic effort.

Unfortunately for Orient it hit the post and remained 1-0 to the home side in front of the BT Sport cameras at the break.

After the break Edinburgh’s side began to create chances more frequently, but they could not find a way through Wood’s stubborn back line.

Orient remain top despite their second loss of the league season, but all eyes will be on Salford City’s trip to Chesterfield, which kicks off at 3pm today.

Leyton Orient: Brill; Ling (Alabi 60), Coulson, Ekpiteta, Widdowson; Dayton (Brophy 28), Clay, Gorman (Lawless 72), McAnuff ©; Koroma, Bonne.

Unused substitutes: Sargeant, Happe.
