Woodford Town have moved up to fifth after recent victories at Enfield and West Essex

Woodford Town are gearing up for a busy week in the Essex Senior League with Dee Safer’s team set to play three times in the space of six days.

It all starts for the club, which is currently playing home games at Harlow Arena while work on their Ashton Playing Fields home continues, on Saturday when they visit Leyton Athletic.

After taking on the division strugglers, the Woods make the trip to local rivals Ilford this Wednesday (December 5) for a derby encounter which will no doubt be fiercely contested.

Then Safer’s side will have to recuperate and recover in quick time because Stanway Rovers, who are managed by Terry Spillane, travel to the Harlow Arena on Friday (December 7).

Woodford will at least go into these matches with confidence high after two excellent wins on the road this past week.

Last Saturday, Town secured a 3-1 victory at Enfield thanks to second-half goals from Jaden Thompson-Brissett, Temi Babalola and Gio Sallangou.

In-form Babalola scored on Tuesday at West Essex (2-0) too with Takudzwa Mashingaidze also on target in the win which took the club up to fifth in the Essex Senior League.
