Essex Senior League: Leyton Athletic 0 Woodford Town 1

Woodford Town nicked a narrow 1-0 victory thanks to a late goal from Taku Mashingazide to stop newly-appointed Leyton Athletic manager Eli Beniot getting off to a winning start.

Mashingaidze netted six minutes from time to give Woodford another away win this season, and see them remain fifth and now just eight points off leaders Stansted with a game in hand.

For Leyton it’s another late loss and it leaves them second from bottom but the new boss will be hoping to make his mark on the side in the coming weeks.

Dee Safer’s side will now travel away to local rivals Ilford on Tuesday evening as they look to continue chasing down the top four in the Essex Senior League.

They will then play host to new-look Stanway Rovers at their current home the Harlow Arena on Friday evening.
