Essex Senior League: Stanway Rovers 4 Ilford 2

Ilford fell to a second consecutive defeat with a 4-2 loss to the new-look Stanway Rovers.

Goals from Danny Haigh and Callum Maltese counted for nothing as they came away from the Hawthorns with nothing to show for their efforts.

The Rovers recently changed their management team with former Aveley boss Terry Spillane taking over the reigns.

Since his arrival Stanway have drawn 1-1 with Woodford Town and progressed into the next round of the Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy with their 3-1 victory against Redbridge.

They have now added a league victory to climb up to 11th in the Essex Senior League table ahead of another clash with Redbridge.

While, the Foxes remain ninth in the table, and did however hand a debut to goalkeeper Jude Fudge who replaced Hugo Rosetti at half-time.

Martin Haywood’s side will now welcome West Essex at Cricklefield Stadium on Saturday as they look to get back to winning ways.
