Martin Haywood set for first competitive game in charge of Foxes since returning in the summer

Ilford will hope the new Essex Senior League season lifts off with an opening-day win at home to Stansted.

The Foxes welcome the Airportmen on the opening day of the new term and new boss Martin Haywood will hope his side take flight with all three points.

Haywood will hope there is no turbulence in the early part of the campaign after taking over from previous joint-managers Allan Fenn and Billy Cove in the summer.

The new Ilford boss will also be keen to avoid an opening-day defeat to avoid any ambitions for the new term being grounded so early into the new term.

In a busy opening week of the season, the Foxes face their first away game of the season on Tuesday night when they make the trip to the Old Spotted Dog to face Clapton.

And by the time Ilford make that trip to the Tons on Tuesday, they will hope to have collected their first win of the term.

Any kind of success at home to Stansted on Saturday would be the perfect start to Haywood’s second spell in charge.
