Boss Colin Walton plans to bolster his squad

Ilford boss Colin Walton hopes to make up to five new signings in order to ready his squad for their relegation run-in.

The Foxes boss is running the rule over 10 new players, including two recently released from Wealdstone and Welling.

Following the postponement of their last two fixtures due to the cold-snap and with Saturday’s trip to Maldon & Tiptree already in doubt, Ilford will cram their final 15 matches into 10 weeks.

And Walton is set to make his move and ensure he has enough depth within his bottom-of-the-table squad to cope with their fixture overload.

“I’m looking at 10 new players, ideally to bring in another five, mostly in midfield and forward positions,” Walton confirmed.

“That does include a couple from the youth team, who I’m looking at to make the step up.

“I’m happy with the defence, although AJ Olatunbosun is the subject of a seven-day approach from another club.

“We’ll wait and see what the offer is. If it’s attractive then I won’t stand in his way.”
