Ilford crashed out of the FA Cup after suffering a 5-2 defeat to Haverhill Borough in their preliminary round replay.

The Foxes travelled away to the New Croft after drawing 1-1 at Cricklefields Stadium on Saturday.

Two goals from the hosts Charlie Holmes helped secure them a berth in the First qualifying round of the FA Cup.

Holmes netted from a quick free kick with less than a minute gone, before Ryan Swallow added a second following good work from Ryan Phillips after 25 minutes, although Ilford fought back and James Peagram reduced the arrears after 39 minutes.

Ilford ended the first half stronger, but a sweeping breakaway from a corner as the half ended saw Phillips increase the lead to 3-1 at the break.

Borough increased their lead to 4-1 in the first minute of the second half after Ryan Wevaer was brought down by the goalkeeper and Holmes converted the penalty, and although Peagram added his second, Borough skipper Casey Phillips completed the scoring with a towering header from a corner with a quarter of an hour left in the game.
