Ilford manager Allan Fenn is delighted with his side’s 3-2 comeback against Essex Senior League high-flyers Tower Hamlets.
The Foxes Karolis Atutis nicked a late winner for his side to steal the three points in the five goal thriller at Mile End Stadium.
Fenn’s men were trailing 2-1 after 67 minutes, but found their way into the clash and the manager had nothing but praise for his player’s efforts.
“Away from home on a Monday night, it’s a tough place to come and I’m delighted with the three points,” Fenn said.
“Tower Hamlets are a good side and we knew it would be difficult.
“We rode our luck a bit at times by causing our own mistakes in the first-half, but we got a good goal before half-time, great timing and then second-half we just sort of switched off.
“They got two goals, which were very preventable, but the boys showed great character like last Wednesday to come from 2-1 down to win 3-2.”
The boss admitted it wasn’t a game for his health as it was filled with great goals and end-to-end play.
“James Peagram’s was a great goal and Isaac’s through the middle of the park, played a one two and finished it lovely and they scored a couple good goals.
“It was full of great goals, not very good for my heart and my nerves, but the boys showed immense character to come back and I’m really proud of them.”
Fenn was delighted to welcome back the likes of Paul Oshin, Karolis Atutis, Jonah Gregory and Glody Nsamu into the squad and believes they’ve gave the Foxes a huge boost.
“It shows we’ve got Glody back from suspension, we’ve got Paul Oshin, Karolis and Jonah back in there, the boys that were missing so spectacularly against Great Wakering, Redbridge and Hullbridge.
“These boys are back and it just shows we’re a different animal now, so hopefully we can keep these boys fit and I think we’ve really turned a corner now.”
Ilford will now host the undefeated Takeley at Cricklefield Stadium on Saturday.
“We’re looking forward to Saturday now.”
