Essex Alliance League Division One quarter-finals: Melbourne Sports 3 Singh Sabha Barking 1

Melbourne Sports are through to the semi-finals of the Essex Alliance League Division One Cup semi-final after a 3-1 win over Singh Sabha Barking.

Sports raced into an early league when Marcus Dadson flicked the ball on for Russell Laird to net in just the fourth minute.

Mels doubled their lead 30 minutes later when Ryan Lincoln converted on the rebound after John Shubert’s initial shot had been saved.

Early in the second half, Sports then added a third, again from a rebound, when Laird prodded home from close range after Lincoln had initially been denied.

Mels missed chances to extend their lead further, before Singh Sabha pulled one back in stoppage time.

Thankfully, it proved little more than a consolation strike for the opposition as Sports progressed to the final.

Mels return to league action on Saturday when they face Colebrook Royals Reserves in the Essex Alliance League Division One.
