Essex Alliance League Division One: Docklands Albion 3 Melbourne Sports 0

Melbourne Sports crashed out of the Essex Alliance League Division One Cup after a 3-0 loss to Docklands Albion in the semi-finals.

The defeat saw Sports continue a worrying run against Albion, having now lost each of the four meetings between the sides this term.

Mels were without midfield forager Scott Lincoln and suffered an early blow, conceding the opener inside four minutes.

That proved to be the only goal of the half, but Sports conceded a second in the 70th minute.

Four minutes later, Docklands nabbed their third of the match to all but seal Mels’ exit from the cup.

Sports will hope to dust themselves down quickly with a swift turnaround before facing Three Colts in Essex Alliance League Division One on Saturday.

When the sides met in December, Mels were beaten 2-1 at home despite a goal for Tom Martin and Sports will want a more favourable result this time around against Three Colts.
