Essex Junior Trophy second round: Docklands Albion 6 Melbourne Sports 0

Melbourne Sports were knocked out of the Essex Junior Trophy following a 6-0 loss away to Docklands Albion in the second round.

Albion had triumphed in the previous meeting between the sides in Essex Alliance Division just five weeks ago, and Sports suffered a defeat to their divisional rivals again in the cup.

After Docklands had taken the lead around 15 minutes in, Stan Howison went close to levelling for Mels, but his effort from 35 yards got caught in the wind and fell short.

Albion added a second, before John Shubert went close for the visitors, but a third for the hosts before half time saw them lead 3-0.

Within three minutes of the resumption, Mels were 4-0 down and though Scott Lincoln tested the Docklands keeper, a fifth still followed.

Albion added a sixth before the end, and though there was a late chance for Shubert, Mels were unable to get a late consolation strike as they crashed out of the competition.
