Foxes take on relegation candidates
Ilford boss Allan Fenn says bottom-side Sporting Bengal will still pose a threat when the two sides meet on Wednesday.
When the teams met earlier in the season, the Foxes ran out 5-1 winners against Bengal.
Despite their league position, Fenn is wary that the Newham club could cause his side problems.
“They’ve had a couple of decent results recently. We played them before and won, so we’ll go into the game confident,” said Fenn.
“But the league throws up very different results for each team every week. You never play against the same team twice. As long as we play well and are set up right, we’ll be fine.”
The Cricklefields side currently sit 12 places above their opponents in eighth place in the Essex Senior League.
With such a gulf between the two sides Fenn hopes the Foxes do not enter the game thinking they have already won.
“We’ve been complacent a few times this season and it’s something my management team and I have looked at,” added Fenn.
“We had a few players who have now left who I think were complacent when we played lesser teams and were beaten.
“We’ll be totally focussed. With all due respect to Sporting Bengal, we’re hopeful of a good result and performance. It all depends on if we turn up in the right frame of mind.”
