Redbridge 3 Stansted 1

Redbridge ended their six-year wait for an FA Cup win with success over Essex Senior League rivals Stansted at Oakside.

And the extra preliminary round success earned the Motormen £1,500 in prize money and a trip to Grays Athletic on August 19.

They took the lead on 35 minutes when Lindisipho Mtyanda found the net, but Redbridge’s joy was shortlived as Reggie Yembra had the Airportmen back on level terms just three minutes later.

Calvin Poku restored the home side’s advantage in the second minute of first-half stoppage time, though, and they made sure of their progress in the second half when big striker Brian Moses netted on 68 minutes.

Joint managers Ricky Eaton and Joey May will now focus on their side’s league clash at Takeley, who have won their first three league and cup matches of the new season, next weekend.

Redbridge: Greene, Reynolds-Blanche, Worrell, Nelson, Thomas, Mbamara, Duggan, Toussaint, Poku, Dingli, Mtyanda. Subs: Gent, Moses, Gates, Homans, Phillips, Kettle, Francis.
