Motormen maintained pace with title rivals Great Wakering with a come from behind win on Wednesday.

Although buoyed by their weekend win at FC Romania, the visitors fell behind on the half-hour mark after conceding possession in midfield and seeing the ball played in behind their defence for a Lodge player to steer under the keeper.

But the promotion hopefuls were back on level terms just two minutes into the second half as Liam Thomas chested the ball down in the box from a free-kick and volleyed home superbly.

And Motormen took the lead on 52 minutes as big striker Brian Moses struck once again, before sealing the points with a quarter of an hour remaining.

Moses headed home his second goal of the night from close range to ensure another happy away-day for Ricky Eaton and Joey May’s men, who are second on goal difference after Great Wakering won 1-0 at Woodford Town.

FC Romania are now five points back in third place, with all three teams having eight matches remaining.

Motormen are due to host fifth-placed Takeley at Oakside on Saturday.
