Motormen drew second game of the season 1-1 at home, with Calvin Poku netting a second-half equaliser for the Oakside Stadium club

Redbridge joint-manager Ricky Eaton says both teams were deserving of a point following his side’s 1-1 draw at home to Essex Senior League rivals Sawbridgeworth Town.

After beating Tower Hamlets 2-1 on the opening day of the season on Saturday, the Motormen were keen to back up that success with a win over the Robins.

However, the Oakside Stadium club fell behind in the first half, before striker Calvin Poku netted a 51st-minute equaliser for the hosts, who later had chances to win.

Eaton, though, said he could have no qualms about the result, though added he felt Redbridge may have nicked it late on.

“On reflection, it was a fair result. Sawbridgeworth were the better team in the first half, but it was one-way traffic from us after the break,” he said.

“Having watched the game back, I think over the 90 minutes we were the better side.

“It was a hard-fought game and the draw was probably a fair result, but we could have edged it at the end.”
