Redbridge saw their chances of a top-two finish ended, despite beating Hackney Wick at Oakside on Saturday.

As Great Wakering secured the title with a 5-0 win over West Essex, FC Romania claimed a 2-0 victory at Southend Manor to put themselves in the driving seat for the second promotion spot.

Basildon United need to beat Redbridge in their last match on Wednesday to finish as runners-up instead.

But a win for Motormen will see them claim third place in the final table, which might be enough for promotion to the Bostik North if they are one of the best third-placed teams at step five level.

The home side fell behind on 29 minutes as Nelson Dinh put bottom club Wick ahead.

But it was all square again just before the hour mark as Remi Nelson netted for Motormen, who went on to claim the points thanks to a goal from Dan Gilchrist on 75 minutes.

However, they are three points behind second-placed FC Romania, who have a far superior goal difference (61 to 42), so third place is the best Motormen can hope for.

Relegated Wick are eight points adrift at the foot of the table and complete their season with a trip to Mayesbrook Park to take on West Essex on Tuesday.
