Foxes has signed Andy Edmunds from local rivals Barking and brought back ex-captain Ajay Ashnike from Ryman North side Aveley
Ilford manager Allan Fenn is not reading too much into their 3-0 victory over Takeley on September 27 ahead of hosting the same opposition again this weekend.
The Station Road outfit have made a strong start to the Essex Senior League campaign and have 28 points from their opening 14 games – losing just twice.
But the Foxes comfortably beat them in the second round of the Essex Senior Cup last month to demonstrate their potential.
Unfortunately Ilford followed up the 3-0 win over Takeley with a defeat at Southend Manor by the same scoreline last weekend.
“It will be a different game this time around and we know they are a very good side,” said Fenn. “Last time we were good on the day, but we let ourselves down on Saturday at Southend Manor.
“If the right Ilford turns up and the right Takeley turns up this time then it could prove to be a really exciting match.”
Fenn would have hoped to see his team bounce back when they entertained local rivals Redbridge at Cricklefield Stadium on Wednesday.
Motormen managed to triumphed 3-1, however, despite Ryan Ramsay’s opener as Sipho Mtyanda also missed a penalty.
Despite a lengthy injury list, Ilford have picked up a number of encouraging results, including a 5-1 win over tenants Barkingside and a goalless draw with Barking.
Fenn added: “We want to win every game we play and we always feel we can. We have just signed Andy Edmunds from Barking.
“He is an attacking midfielder and has been at the likes of Tilbury before, as well as plenty of other clubs.
“Elias Armah-Tackie will be out for a few weeks because he got clattered into the advertising boards on Saturday.
“We’ve still got quite a few other lads out injured so we’re hopeful of making a few more additions by the time we face Takeley this weekend.”
Fenn will hope to have plenty of options available, especially with a trip to Hullbridge Sports in the league to contend with as well next Tuesday.
One person who is set to feature for Ilford over the next week is former captain Ajay Ashnike after he rejoined the club on Wednesday having departed Ryman North outfit Aveley.
