Essex Senior League strugglers Wadham Lodge ended Ilford’s unbeaten run with an impressive 2-0 home win over them at Kitchener Road in Walthamstow on Friday night.
Dwayde James opened the scoring in the ninth minute with Sherwin Stanley supplying the other goal in the second half.
The win takes Lodge into double figures in points and although they remain bottom they are now in touching distance of the teams above them.
Ilford stay ninth following the defeat and will be hoping to get some revenge when they face Lodge in the Errington Challenge Cup on Wednesday evening.
Rivals Redbridge got back to winning ways with a 2-0 win over Stansted at Hargrave Park.
The Motormen remain third in the table after sealing the three points.
The visitors took the lead three minutes before half time through a Joshua Hutchinson strike from the edge of the box.
Hutchinson then netted with eight minutes remaining when he slotted beyond keeper Pitman.
