Ilford inflicted only a second defeat of the season on Takeley with a fine display at Cricklefield Stadium on Non League Day.

The Foxes gave a debut to Alex Skeva, following his move from Wadham Lodge, and James Peagram gave the hosts the lead from the penalty spot with his 14th goal of the season.

Takeley had won their first seven league matches of the season, before losing at FC Romania on Wednesday evening, and Paul Oshin doubled Ilford’s advantage to secure the points and make it three wins in a row for Allan Fenn’s men, following earlier successes against Enfield and Tower Hamlets over the previous 10 days.

Isaac Nkosi tweeted: “Buzzing with the 2-0 win today, 3 wins on the bounce, the boys are on fire.”

Their latest victory keeps Ilford in ninth place in the table ahead of their derby with tenants Barkingside next weekend.
