Ilford suffered an eighth straight defeat this time at the hands of Hullbridge Sports who secured their status in the Essex Senior League with a 4-0 victory.

The Foxes joint-manager Billy Cove was forced to don the gloves as they were without a goalkeeper for the match and the former Maidenhead United striker couldn’t stop his side’s rut.

The hosts led after only four minutes when a cross into the box from Matt Rose found Perry Dunn’s head who sent the ball back across goal for Adebola Sotoyinbo to strike home.

They doubled their lead in the 27th minute when Luke Hornsley scored from twenty five yards out.

It was three at the half hour mark when a nice ball from Jimmy Cox to Sotoyinbo on the right saw the latter score with a great finish and the hosts were cruising.

Sports capped a fine evening by adding a fourth with two minutes left thanks to a lovely strike from Hornsley, and the defeat leaves Ilford 11th in the table.
