Redbridge put themselves right back into the thick of the title race with a come-from-behind win at Theobalds Lane.
Goals from Brian Moses and Calvin Poku allowed Motormen to leapfrog their hosts into second place behind leaders Great Wakering on goal difference.
The visitors made a nervous start, but then saw Josh Hutchinson blast a good chance over before Mihai Dinu’s cross-cum-shot hit the angle of crossbar and post.
Mihai Circiumaru shot wide at the near post from George Taban’s cross, but Tommie Turner saw a far-post chance blocked by Adrian Darabant, who also denied Moses.
Motormen were just looking the more likely, when Circiumaru sent a header against the outside of a post moments after firing a 25-yard shot just wide.
And FC Romania took the lead when a free-kick from out wide by Felix Lupu deceived Lewis Green and found the net.
Green tipped a volley from Lupu over the crossbar soon after, while Dinu failed to convert a far-post header from a corner.
There was a scrappy start to the second half, before Florin Pop forced Green into a superb diving save and Dinu flicked the corner across the face of goal.
And Motormen were back on terms on 78 minutes when a ball into the box fell to Moses, who controlled it well and produced a good finish past Darabant.
They went close to taking the lead moments later when Vinny Murphy’s free-kick was flicked on by Phillip Brown-Bampfoe but substitute Reside Coxi-Sebastfao couldn’t get enough on it at the far post.
Sergiu Pitari curled an effort just wide for the hosts, though, before Motormen snatched their late winner.
Substitute Calvin Poku latched on to a long ball upfield and although his shot was saved by Darabant there was enough on the ball for it to trickle over the line.
It was almost 3-1 in stoppage time when the ball fell in the box to Brown-Bampfoe in the box, who couldn’t get a shot away, but there was also a last-gasp moment of panic in the Redbridge box before Ricky Eaton and Joey May’s men could celebrate inflicting a first defeat in 24 league games on FC Romania, who were beaten on their own patch for the first time this season.
Redbridge: Green, Homans, Mbamarah, Harris, Thomas (Poku), Murphy, Hutchinson (Coxi-Sebastfao), Brown-Bampfoe, Gogo, Moses, Turner (Mtyanda). Unused subs: Duggan, Hunt.
