Tower Hamlets’ clash at home to Eton Manor also falls foul of weather

Barkingside’s efforts to host Sporting Bengal United in the Essex Senior League tonight have been thwarted by the weather, with a waterlogged pitch forcing the match at Cricklefield to be postponed.

Both teams had been hoping to follow up positive results at the weekend with more points tonight, but those plans will have to be put on hold.

Side had beaten title hopefuls Clapton 5-2 on Friday, while Bengal held FC Romania to a 2-2 draw.

Instead, Barkingside will next visit Stansted on March 11, while United are back in action at home to Redbridge on Saturday.

That is not the only match to fall victim to the weather, with Sporting’s fellow Mile End Stadium tenants Tower Hamlets having their game postponed.

Ade Abayomi’s men were due to entertain Eton Manor tonight, but that match has also been postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.

Hamlets are next in action on Saturday when they make the trip to league leaders Barking.

New dates are yet to be set for either of the postponed fixtures.
