Michael Walther’s Barkingside made the trip to Lower Road to take on Hullbridge and scored twice inside four minutes to take control.

Jason Fontaine opened the scoring in the second minute against his former club, with Michael Ogboin doubling the advantage soon after with a low, curling shot.

The hosts hit back just before the half-hour mark with a Jimmy Cox free-kick, but Fontaine restored Barkingside’s two-goal lead with a fine solo effort moments later.

The second half was barely two minutes old when Matheus Santos made it 4-1 and substitute Michael Sherwood ran through to net the fifth just past the hour mark.

Lewis Watson hit a post for Hullbridge, before Tony Cookey scored Barkingside’s sixth on 73 minutes.

And although Luca Frankis replied from the penalty spot four minutes later it was little consolation for the hosts.

Barkingside return to Cricklefield to host Southend Manor in the FA Vase next Sunday, before an Essex Senior Cup derby with landlords Ilford two days later.

Barkingside: Bailey, Bottone, Etcheri (David 54), Fontaine, Hunt, Joseph (Sherwood 58), Newbold, Ogboin, Santos, Cookey, Taylor-Reid.

Redbridge were also celebrating three points away from home after a 2-1 victory at Woodford Town.

Jacob Dingli and Brian Moses struck either side of the break for Motormen, who made it back-to-back wins following success over FC Romania a week earlier.

Ricky Eaton and Joey May will now turn their attentions to the FA Vase and their home tie against Brantham Athletic at Oakside next weekend.

Redbridge: Dingli, Gent, Gates, Greene, Homans, Mtyanda, Moses, Murphy, Thomas, Toussaint, Worrell. Subs: Duggan, Nelson, Reynolds-Blanche.
