Barkingside came from behind to beat Tower Hamlets at Cricklefield Stadium on Friday night.

But the evening was overshadowed by a serious injury to Hamlets Alhousman Ndure in the closing stages.

The visitors took the lead when Rahim Adama Bamba crossed to the far post for Jerry Jairette to score.

But Barkingside were soon back on terms as Roddy Lemba slotted home from the edge of the box.

And the hosts took the lead when a James Briggs free-kick was turned home at the far post.

Justas Paliulis fired wide for Hamlets after the restart and Bamba was denied by a fine save from Mikel Breckenridge.

And Barkingside sealed the points three minutes from time when Michael Ogboin ran through and forced the ball home.

Ndure was hurt in his attempts to stop Ogboin, though, and the referee ended the match early after an ambulance was called.

Barkingside are now five points clear of the bottom four in 14th place, with Hamlets in 10th ahead of the weekend’s fixtures.

Saturday sees Ilford head to Hackney Wick, while Redbridge host Waltham Forest and Sporting Bengal entertain Stansted.

Clapton are due to visit Wadham Lodge.
