Foxes have signed Liam Whipps on loan from Witham Town and have plenty of players to pick from for tonight’s match

Ilford manager Allan Fenn has warned his squad they must perform against Eton Manor tonight or risk losing their starting position for the FA Vase on Saturday.

The Foxes are back in Essex Senior League action this evening after an eight-day break following their 1-1 draw at Hullbridge Sports.

After hosting Manor at Cricklefields, Ilford will visit St Margaretsbury in the first round of the FA Vase this weekend.

Fenn said: “We go into tonight’s match really looking forward to it, especially because it has been a while.

“If the boys want to play in the Vase on Saturday they need to show up against Eton Manor – they know that.

“My squad is big enough now to change the whole team to play St Margaretsbury if I have to after tonight.

“I am quietly confident, although we know Eton Manor have got some very good players in their squad.

“One of them, Ben Bradbury, I had with me at Redbridge years ago and he is only just coming back from a horrific leg injury.

“He has been banging them in for fun so we know what type of threat they have and what to expect.”

Ilford have plenty of options after bringing in Witham Town’s Liam Whipps on an initial one-month loan.

And Fenn also revealed he expects to make two more additions before facing Manor this evening.

He also has plenty of players back after injury and suspension, which was the one positive to come from having last weekend off.

“The break since playing at Hullbridge on Tuesday has allowed us to get players back,” said Fenn.

“We trained for a few hours on Saturday and now have 22 people available to face Eton Manor.

“Liam Whipps has come in from Witham on a month’s loan and we’ve got two more people coming in for the Eton Manor match.

“The competition for places is strong and the boys know they need to perform if they want to keep their shirt.

“We’ve got Dan Jones back tonight, Elias Armah-Tackie is in light training now and big Toib Adeyemi is available.

“Joe Killingback’s suspension is over so we’ve not just got people back, we have real quality involved again now.”

Whipps will add to that after joining from Ryman North outfit Witham much to the delight of Fenn.

It gives left-back Justas Paliulis more competition and puts pressure on the wide players to keep delivering.

Fenn added: “Liam is a left-back who can also play out wide and is only 19-years-old living in Chelmsford. He has played a few games for Witham, but needs to be playing more regularly so we’ve got him for a month. It gives Justas competition for the left-back role.”
