Essex Senior Cup draw revealed

Local sides find out their fate as they go in search of Cup glory this season.

The draw for the opening two rounds of the Essex Senior Cup were held earlier this afternoon.

Mick O’Shea’s Barking will welcome Eastern Counties side Wivenhoe to Mayesbrook Park in the first round and the reward for the winner of that tie will face a trip to Stanway Rovers.

London APSA are on the road in the second round when they face fellow Essex Senior League side Hullbridge Sports.

Meanwhile, if Martin Haywood’s Ilford overcome Stansted in the first round at Hargrave Park, they will then host the winners of the Halstead Town and Takeley tie at Cricklefield.

Senior Cup winners AFC Hornchurch received a bye into the third round of the competition alongside Romford, Dagenham & Redbridge, Redbridge and Ryman One newcomers Barkingside

The full draw is as follows:

First Round (on or before September 7): Barking vs Wivenhoe Town, Halstead Town vs Takeley, Stansted vs Ilford.

Second Round (on or before October 5): Saffron Walden Town vs Bowers & Pitsea, Stansted or Ilford vs Halstead Town or Takeley, Stanway Rovers vs Barking or Wivenhoe Town, Hullbridge Sports vs London APSA, Eton Manor vs Basildon United, FC Clacton vs Brightlingsea Regent, Great Wakering Rovers vs Southend Manor.

Byes to Third Round: AFC Hornchurch, Aveley, Barkingside, Billericay Town, Braintree Town, Brentwood Town, Burnham Ramblers, Canvey Island, Chelmsford City, Colchester United, Concord Rangers, Dagenham & Redbridge, East Thurrock United, Grays Athletic, Harlow Town, Heybridge Swifts, Maldon & Tiptree, Redbridge, Romford, Southend United, Thurrock, Tilbury, Waltham Abbey, Waltham Forest, Witham Town.
