Ryman North: Thurrock 4 Redbridge 2

Redbridge suffered more disciplinary problems at Ship Lane, finishing with eight men after three of their players were given their marching orders.

Aaron Tatham, Tyron Thomas and Kacey Adams all saw red for the visitors, while Thurrock keeper Rhys Madden was also dismissed for two bookable offences.

And the visitors were left empty handed after five goals were scored in the last 19 minutes of an incident packed encounter.

Fleet began well, with former Barkingside striker Steve Carvell heading wide from a corner.

And they broke the deadlock two minutes before half time when Lewwis Spence sent Leslie Thompson through and he beat Mark Parker at the second attempt.

Thurrock might have added a second from a late corner as Spence forced Parker into a superb diving save.

And Motormen had Parker to thank for another save early in the second half to keep out Spence’s fierce header.

Adams was dismissed on 65 minutes, following an off-the-ball incident, but Redbridge drew level soon after when Madden conceded a penalty and Patrick Damali stepped up to convert from the spot.

Parity did not last long, as Remi Sutton ran from halfway and fired past Parker at his near post.

But Motormen got back on terms after being awarded a second penalty, following an incident which saw Madden shown a second yellow card and Thomas a straight red, as Gavin Cockman sent reserve keeper Jordon Warren the wrong way from 12 yards.

Redbridge’s joy was shortlived as Thompson crossed for Ross Wall to head Thurrock back in front and the home side sealed the points when Thompson played in Spence to fire through Parker’s legs.

Tatham became the third visiting player to be sent off when he scythed down L’heureux Menga in stoppage time and Redbridge joint bosses Dave Ross and Ricky Eaton will have a selection headache when suspensions start to take hold.

Redbridge: Parker, Tatham, G Winn (R Winn 84), Scott, T Thomas, Mustafa (Parish 46), Gent (McKenzie 60), Damali, Cockman, Adams, Hunt.

*Barkingside saw their home meeting with Brightlingsea Regent postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at Cricklefield Stadium.

But they remain just above the relegation zone on goal difference, following Romford’s 3-0 loss at Sudbury.
