Essex club beaten 2-0 in Midlands on Tuesday night

Solihull Moors boss Tim Flowers had praise for Dagenham & Redbridge, despite beating the Essex club 2-0 in the Vanarama National League.

Daggers succumbed to a second straight loss in the league and are now without a win in their last four meetings with Moors.

At the Automated Technology Group Stadium on Tuesday night, Peter Taylor’s men fell behind in the 20th minute when Danny Wright capitalised on a defensive error, before netting for the hosts.

Moors had second in the 89th minute when Jermaine Hylton outpaced the visiting defence on his way to netting.

The defeat means Daggers remain in the bottom four in the division, but Flowers had praise for the Victoria Road outfit.

He told Solihull Moors’ official website: “Fair play to Dagenham, I thought they were good. I thought they defended manfully and won a lot of first contacts off our restarts.

“I didn’t think our delivery and our movement was anyway near good enough, but credit to Dagenham as they dealt with it well.

“We got our noses in front after a little bit of an underhit back pass to the goalkeeper and Wright showed why he is as good as any number nine in this league and above.

“He went in the brave with their keeper (Elliot Justham) when he could have been smashed, lifts it over him and it’s a great finish.”

As well as praising the collective effort from Daggers, Flowers also picked out some of the away players who impressed him.

The former England international added: “Dagenham have got some good players, make no mistake.

“They’ve got some players who have been there for a few years, including the likes of Matt Robinson, who’s a good footballer and a good player.

“Chike Kandi looked as though he had more than a yard of pace on the right-hand side and he carried the ball up the pitch.

“Dagenham’s two centre-backs (Ben Goodliffe and Luke Pennell) were competitive and did well in the air because we have run over the top of a few teams at home.”
