Dagenham & Redbridge have announced the loan signing of stiker Shamir Mullings from National League rivals Maidstone for the rest of the season.

The six foot five inch forward joined Maidstone in the summer after leaving Forest Green Rovers, having played for Chelmsford City prior to that.

Mullings, 24, had a two-month loan spell at Macclesfield Town last season but returned to Rovers without making an appearance.

He signed his first professional contract with Southend United, having played for them at the age of 16, and went on loan to Thurrock, Tilbury and Harlow Town, before a permanent move to Bromley in 2013.

A loan spell at Thamesmead followed, before he signed for Havant & Waterlooville, and then Chelmsford.

Mullings, who was in the Maidstone squad that won 2-1 at Victoria Road earlier this season, will wear the number 32 shirt for Daggers and is available for selection for this weekend’s match against Ebbsfleet.

He told the club website: “I’m so excited. I just can’t wait to come and get started. I can’t wait to be working with Peter Taylor this season.”

Daggers will be looking to avoid a third successive league defeat as they return to home soil, having lost at Eastleigh (1-0) and Solihull Moors (2-0) over the course of the past week.
