New Dagenham & Redbridge signing Jack Munns is hoping to use his experience of winning the Vanarama National League title with Cheltenham Town to aid the Essex club this term.

Munns, along with Liam Bellamy, was one of two signings announced by Daggers late last week, with both midfielders penning deals until the end of the season.

Munns adds plenty of Vanarama National League experience to Peter Taylor’s squad, having also played for Hartlepool United in the division last term.

The 24-year-old, though, looks back more fondly on his time with Cheltenham, after helping the Robins to the title in the 2015/16 campaign.

And the former Tottenham Hotspur trainee believes he can put what he learned from that campaign to use during his stint at Victoria Road.

“The season when I won the league with Cheltenham was my first season in men’s football and it couldn’t have really gone much better,” Munns told the club website.

“I feel like I’ve got a bit of experience in the league and I know how it all works. I know where the difficult away games are and things like that.

“The year I had with Cheltenham in this division was a year I’ll never forget, but it also gave me a lot of experience which hopefully I can use with Dagenham and help the club.”

Joining Daggers represents something of a homecoming for Munns, who hails from Dagenham. The 24-year-old recalls watching the likes of Paul Benson and Tony Roberts turn out for Daggers during their time in the Football League.

And now donning the club’s red and blue strip, the midfielder wants to help his local club as much as he can.

“I’m a West Ham fan, but apart from that, Dagenham is my other club,” he added.

“I can remember coming when I was younger and watching games, watching the League Two play-off final at Wembley Stadium.

“It’s nice to be back home and playing for your local club. I just want to help the club as much as I can, firstly by getting it going in the right direction.”

It seems Munns is determined to be a success with Daggers during his time at Victoria Road, which can only be a positive for his local club.

Both Munns and Bellamy will want to make their competitive debuts for the Victoria Road outfit on Saturday when they welcome Chesterfield in the league.

Daggers will go into that clash full of confidence having beaten Barrow 1-0 last Saturday to extend their unbeaten run to three matches, collecting a third successive clean sheet in the process.

Whether Taylor opts to tinker with a winning team remains to be seen, but both Munns and Bellamy will hope the Daggers boss does so and that it grants them a first appearance for their new club.
