With the transfer window due to close for clubs in the Football League today, Dagenham & Redbridge boss John Still admits there has been interest in one of his players.

Speculation has been building over recent months that attacker Corey Whitely is attracting interest from a number of clubs across the Football League but he still remains at the club.

Daggers now face a nervous wait as they see if anyone comes in for Whitely or any of the other talents amongst the squad.

Still revealed there was an offer for an unknown player this month, but it wasn’t up to the price tag they expected, and they won’t sell cheap.

“I can tell you that a little while back we turned down a bid for a player, we’ll see what comes in, if the bid is the right bid then I’m sure the club will look at it and decide,” he said.

“We haven’t got one yet that we want or if we get one we’ll look at it, but we don’t know yet.”

When pressed to name the player the manager jokingly said “When the window is closed I’ll tell you” but the one player who has linked with a move away since the beginning of the season has been Whitely.

The 26-year-old made his first start since Boxing Day in Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Solihull Moors at Victoria Road.

The former Enfield Town player scored eight goals in the opening ten games for Daggers this season but has failed to find the net since, September, 16 in a 3-1 victory against Halifax Town.

They’ll be hoping if he stays at the club he can break his duck against the club he last scored against this weekend at The Shay.

There are also rumours that captain Scott Doe could possibly leave the club after being unavailable for selection last weekend.
