Side looking to progress past divisional rivals in Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy

Michael Walther is confident Barkingside can get the better of Woodford Town in the first round of the Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy – as long as they stick to their game plan.

Side make the trip to face a Woods side who have started the new term brightly, with two wins from their opening three matches in the Essex Senior League.

That compares to a record of four goalless draws and one defeat for Barkingside this term in all competitions.

However, as the cliché goes, the form book goes out of the window for cup matches, which Walter hopes will be the case tonight.

“Woodford are a good side and they play well together because their players are playing with one another most days of the week,” said Walther.

“Having watched them, we know they are good on the ball, so we have a plan in place to counter that.

“If we can stick to our game plan, then hopefully it works; if we don’t stick to it, it could be a tough match.”
