A draw at big-spending Needham Market felt like a win for Barkingside, according to their boss Matt Frew.
Side recovered from the setback of conceding after two minuntes to battle back for a 2-2 draw in Ryman One North.
Frew was delighted with the way his players peformed against a side expected to challenge for promotion.
He said: “I’m delighted. Not many teams will get a point there so it almost feels like a win.
“After they scored so early you think it could be one of those days but it was a great performance by the boys.
“It was a backs to the walls job when they equalised but I couldn’t be more proud of the players. They put their bodies on the line.
“Even the Needham management and directors praised us after the game.”
Former Ipswich and Leeds midfielder Ian Westlake gave Needham the lead but within a quarter of an hour Barkingside were ahead.
Calvin Poku bundled the ball home and Andy Edmunds smashed in a shot to spark wild celebrations among the visiting players.
Ryan Crisp equalised for Needham in the second half but Side held on despite intense pressure from their hosts.
