Wroxham match closer than score suggests

The 3-0 scoreline was not a true reflection of the game, when Wroxham took the Ryman League points with victory over Redbridge last night (Tuesday) – even the Norfolk side’s web site agreed on that.

“The scoreline looks a bit harsh on us to be honest,” said Side boss Matt Frew.

“To be fair, we didn’t start well. They are a young, quick side and we may have shown them too much respect. We didn’t create much in the first half and were a goal down after about 10 minutes,” he added.

Indeed, the home side went further ahead around the half-hour mark to go into the break 2-0 up.

“We were a different side in the second half. We tightened things up, put the pressure on them and created chances of our own,” said the manager.

“The next goal was going to be important, if we scored I thought we could go on and snatch a draw, but we had no luck in front of goal all night.”

In fact, it was Wroxham who got the important next goal to put them 3-0 ahead. “We’d gone three at the back, and left ourselves open and they scored right at the death,” Ross said.

“But, we showed a lot of character in the second half and I can take a lot of positives out of the game. There’s not too many teams that will make the long journey there and get a result,” he concluded.
