Barkingside progressed through in the Peter Butcher Memorial Trophy as they sealed a 9-8 penalty shoot-out victory after drawing 2-2 with Hullbridge Sports reserves.

Derek Ohalem and Harry Daly both netted in the match to earn the draw after going 1-0 down early on with Sports Arnold Achampong nicking a 70th minute equaliser.

They then won 9-8 on penalties to seal their first win of the season.

Neighbours Redbridge were knocked out of their second cup competition in a week as they fell to a 3-1 defeat against Stanway Rovers in the Gordon Brastead Memorial Trophy quarter-final.

The Motormen fell to a second consecutive defeat as they lost to Saffron Walden Town to crash out of the Essex Senior Cup in mid-week and then couldn’t find their way past the new-look Rovers side at the Hawthorns.

Stanway Rovers will now face St Margaretsbury in the semi-final of the Trophy.
