Redbridge beaten by Bowers

Barkingside bounced back from their pre-season friendly defeat at London Bari to beat Waltham Forest last night.

Gus Gulfer’s men had gone down 2-1 against Essex Senior League Bari at the weekend, but came out on top by the same margin against their rivals Forest.

The home side took the lead on 19 minutes, but Barkingside were back on terms seven minutes before the break through Jake Skeet.

And the visitors claimed a winner on 75 minutes as Fahad Nyanja struck to give them a boost heading into their weekend clash with Essex Olympian League outfit Canning Town at the Met Police ground in Chigwell.

Ryman North rivals Redbridge fell to a 3-1 defeat at Bowers, who finished as runners-up in the Essex Senior League last season.

Tom Hine put the home side ahead, but Motormen levelled before the interval.

Chris Bryan restored Bowers’ lead in the second half, with Luka Frankis hammering home a third.

Redbridge are due to visit Sawbridgeworth for their next pre-season test on Saturday.
