Manager Matt Frew has high hopes for Ryan Imbert as striker opens his account in win at Haringey & Waltham Development.
Barkingside player-manager Matt Frew hopes the return of striker Ryan Imbert can give his team the extra firepower they need to mount a push towards promotion.
The former Aveley striker was with the Oakside outfit last season before trying his luck at Ryman One North side Waltham Forest, but after a lack of opportunities at the club, opted to move back to Essex Senior League football with Barkingside.
The striker came on for the last 20 minutes in Sunday’s 1-1 league draw against Bethnal Green United and netted the winning goal in Wednesday’s 2-1 win against Haringey & Waltham Development.
Barkingside are now just a point behind league leaders Southend Manor and Frew sees Imbert’s return as an added boost to their promotion prospects.
“I knew Ryan was at the club last year and whenever I played against him for London APSA he was always a danger,” said the Barkingside boss.
“I heard he hadn’t been getting in much at Waltham Forest and I was able to get him back to the club which I am delighted with.
“He is something different to what we already have and hopefully with him in the side we can continue to progress.”
