Under-15s side suffer heavy loss

Eastern Avenue earned their first points of the new Essex Women’s League Premier Division with a hard fought win over old foes Hullbridge Sports on Sunday.

Both teams were promoted last season and without a win going into last weekend’s encounter.

With home advantage, the Herons were hoping to get on top of Sports early, but it was the visitors who took the lead.

Eventually Avenue got their act together and Molly Rose equalised before they took the lead through Charlotte Lynch just before half time.

Sports pushed to get back on level terms after the break, but the hosts held firm to pick up their first win of the season.

*Eastern Avenue under-15 boys suffered a heavy 6-0 defeat against Bealonians Yellow in their Echo League clash.

The visitors took the lead after 10 minutes and doubled that advantage on the half-hour mark with a penalty.

Bealonians added two more goals before half time to take firm control, but the hosts began the second period better.

The visitors soon got on top again and scored twice more to earn a thoroughly deserved victory.
