Herons recorded a 120-run victory in the league on Saturday
Joe Ellis-Grewal hailed the display from Wanstead & Snaresbrook after claiming a comprehensive 120-run victory at home to Chingford in the Shepherd Neame Essex League Premier Division.
Batting first, a 134-run partnership for the sixth wicket between Adnan Akram (59) and Ellis-Grewal (67) helped the Herons to 219-8, before the hosts declared.
A devastating spell of bowling from Aron Nijjar saw him take 6-38 with the ball, while Zain Shahzad recorded figures of 3-21 as Chingford were dismissed for 99 in reply.
Victory allowed Wanstead to remain 14 points behind leaders Hornchurch ahead of Saturday’s meeting between the sides.
And Ellis-Grewal was pleased with the level of performance from the Herons in their win over Chingford.
“It was a good performance, especially after we struggled early on in our innings,” said the skipper.
“It was a good partnership between myself and Adnan, and the bowlers were brilliant to dismiss Chingford for such a low score.”
