Loughton moved 24 points clear of Fives & Heronians at the top of the Shepherd Neame Essex League Division Two table after beating them by six wickets.

Fives chose to bat first at The Uplands, but lost Shawn Tuitt with only three runs on the board, trapped lbw by Jordan Ramsden.

Opening partner Terry Ballard fell to Abdul Nasir soon after and wickets continued to fall at regular intervals as the visitors were skittled for 58 in 19.1 overs.

Billy Amas (10) and captain Jake Poulter (16) were the only Fives batsmen to reach double figures, while Ramsden finished with 5-28 and Nasir took 5-30 as the only Loughton bowlers used.

The home side did not have it all their own way as they chased a small target, with Vibhor Yadav dismissed by Jonny Kay for just eight.

Bilaal Anwar hit a six and six fours in his 33 off just 17 balls before offering a return catch to Poulter, who also removed Umar Choudhry and Luke Parker for ducks to finish with 3-24.

But Osman Choudhry and Bilal Butt saw Loughton to victory in the 12th over to leave them in pole position with three games remaining.

Beaten Fives, meanwhile, are now just six points ahead of Oakfield Parkonians, despite their defeat against Harlow Town.
