Ilford slumped to another disappointing defeat in the Shepherd Neame Essex League Premier Division at home against Hadleigh.

Having lost to struggling Shenfield a week earlier, they saw Hadleigh recover from 80-5 to reach 193-5 in their 50 overs at Valentines Park as Max Holmes (54 not out) and Luke Smith (58 not out) shared an unbroken 113-run stand.

Ilford captain Theeban Tavarasa had struck with the new ball with only a single run on the board and conceded just 15 from his 10 overs, while Arshad Haroon (2-39) took two wickets in four balls.

Harsh Kumar and Mohammad Ahktar also had success with the ball for the hosts, but they lost openers Akash Raji and Ahktar quickly in reply to find themselves 4-2.

Saf Imtiaz followed cheaply, before Kumar and Hamza Muhammad (27) steadied the ship.

Ilford found themselves in a similar position to Hadleigh at 90-5, but their lower order could stop the fall of wickets at regular intervals as they were dismissed for 145 in the 46th over.
