Hainault & Clayhall fell to a heavy defeat against Buckhurst Hill in their Shepherd Neame Essex League Division One derby.

Captain Irfan Shah chose to bat first after winning the toss, but saw openers Maruf Chowdhury and Sagar Joshi dismissed cheaply to leave Hainault 9-2.

Mousshin Ismail made it into double figures, but the visitors slumped to 38-5 before Shah (42) and Etinder Bopara (43) dug in to put on 88 for the sixth wicket.

They fell in quick succession, though, and Sadaif Mehdi (21) was the only other batman in double figures as Hainault were dismissed for 154 in 46 overs.

Irfan Sahar (4-37) was the pick of the home bowling, as Will Stoner (2-19) nabbed a brace, before Ryan Karunakaran (44) and Hendro Puchert (43) put on 73 for the first wicket.

Hill captain Prashan Chand-Bajpai shared another half-century stand with Puchert for the second wicket and hit an unbeaten 55 from 63 balls, including 11 fours, as his side eased to an eight-wicket win inside 30 overs.
