Hainault & Clayhall claimed their third win of the season in Shepherd Neame Essex League Division One with a three-wicket success against Orsett.

The visitors chose to bat after winning the toss and made a bright start to reach 85-1 thanks to a half-century from Umar Ayub.

But wickets then fell at regular intervals and they were dismissed for 194 in the 49th over, with Maruf Chowdhury (3-17) the pick of the Hainault attack.

Faizan Muhammad (2-35) and Muhammad Rahim (2-41) nabbed braces for the home side, who reached their target in the 44th over of their reply to move 15 points clear of the bottom two at the midway mark of the season.

Sagar Joshi (30) and Etinder Bopara (43) put on 60 for the first wicket, with captain Irfan Shah (26) also making a start.

And Chowdhury finished unbeaten on 40 from 58 balls, having hit seven fours, as Hainault claimed maximum points.
