Sharif secures Essex League Division Two derby success

Hainault & Clayhall were convincing winners over Oakfield Parkonians in their Essex League Division Two derby on the first day of the season.

Parks captain Jibran Azam chose to bat first after winning the toss, but Faisal Bhatti and Ryan Karuna were dismissed cheaply in the opening overs to leave the home side 7-2.

Ramya Upadhyay (33) put on 111 for the third wicket with Azam, who hit three sixes and 12 fours in his 79 from 72 balls, before both fell to Mughal (3-56).

And Ryan Hurst (4-41) and Zobie Sharif (2-23) ran through the rest of the card as Parks collapsed from 133-3 to 190 all out.

And former Essex staffer Sharif then played the lead role with the bat, hitting an unbeaten 118 in an unbroken 191-run opening stand with Irfan Shah (63 not out) as Hainault raced to a 10-wicket win in just 23 overs.
