County begins 50-over One-Day Cup campaign
Essex Eagles return to 50-over action in the Royal London One-Day Cup tomorrow (Monday).
Both Chelmsford and Colchester will play host to the group stages of the tournament which takes place throughout this summer’s school holidays.
The opening home fixture takes place at The E.C.G on when Lancashire Lightning travel to Chelmsford to take part in a floodlit encounter starting at 2pm.
Middlesex will travel to Castle Park in the north of the county on Wednesday August 5 as part of the Colchester Cricket Festival, which is sponsored by Beaumont Seymour.
Essex’s limited-overs captain Ryan ten Doeschate is excited at the prospect of another chance for silverware, saying: “The Royal London One-Day Cup is certainly on the radar as a potential trophy for us. A Lord’s final is always a huge carrot for any county.
“I think at the start of any campaign there’s that expectation and excitement. Our first target is to get out of the group.
“There are a lot of Championship Division One teams who we don’t often come across, so there are going to be plenty of challenges.”
The Essex Eagles’ will don the red shirts, proudly sponsored by Woodland Group.
Tickets are still available for each of the four home matches, with advanced purchased tickets priced at £15 for adults (a saving of £5) and £5 for juniors under the age of 18.
There is also a ‘Kids Go Free!’ initiative supported by Essex County Cricket Club, the England and Wales Cricket Board and Royal London during the fixture against Notts Outlaws on Sunday August 2.
Individuals purchasing an adult ticket will be entitled to one free junior ticket for every adult ticket purchased.
