Woodford Green ended up well beaten by Westcliff in their Shepherd Neame Essex League Division Three encounter at Chalkwell Park.

Hamaad Sayyed put the hosts into bat and saw Usman Azhar strike early with the new ball.

But opposite number Peter Barnes (103) and Jonathan Pratt (101 not out) put on 167 for the second wicket to help the home side pile up 286-3.

Azhar (2-58) claimed a second scalp for Green who lost Sayyed and Anthony Palmer early in reply.

Hussnain Kazmi hit seven fours in his quickfire 38 off 24 balls before falling with the score on 64, but Jawwad Hussain (34), Zahar (36) and Matthew Field were the only other batsmen in double figures as Green were dismissed for 172.

Tom Baker (3-48) was the pick of the home attack, with Barnes (2-18), Anish Lukose (2-33) and Sherwin Stanley (2-47) all nabbing a brace of wickets apiece.
