South Woodford remain in danger of the drop from Essex League Division One after losing to leaders Orsett.

A 38-run defeat leaves them 10 points adrift of Harold Wood, with only two matches remaining this season.

Captain Joe Craddock put the visitors into bat after winning the toss and saw Saihaj Jaspal strike twice with the new ball to reduce them to 1-2.

Michael Harris weighed in with a brace to make it 50-4, with Bradley Copper and Jaspal (3-60) having further success to leave Orsett six wickets down.

Mark Pavitt held firm to reach 75, before also falling to Harris (4-47), and Copper (2-70) picked up another scalp before the end of the innings.

But the hosts were soon in trouble at 26-3 in reply and up against it at 115-6 as batsmen struggled to settle.

Copper dug in to reach 69, hitting eight fours, but was seventh man out with the total on 133, and South Woodford were dismissed for 167 in the 43rd over, taking six points from the defeat.
